Features of ASC Shrimp Standard
Ecosystem and Biodiversity Protection
Minimise the impact on the neighboring ecosystem in various ways, such as partial restoration of lost mangrove forest and the development and implementation of a biodiversity-focused environmental impact assessment (B-EIA).
Responsible Feed and Sourcing
Ensure full traceability of feed to a responsibly managed source, preferably certified for both marine ingredients and for palm oil and soy.
Strict Pollution and Disease Control
Adhere to rigorous limits on water pollution and implement proactive biosecurity and farm-level health plans.
High Social and Labour Standards
ASC certification imposes strict requirements based on the core principles of the International Labour Organization (ILO), including the prohibition of child labor and any form of forced labor.
Regulated Use of Medicines
The use of medicines, including antibiotics, is restricted under all ASC standards. The use of antibiotics listed by the WHO as critically important antimicrobials for human medicine is strictly prohibited on any ASC-certified farm.
