Offshore container inspections
Offshore container inspections prevent containers from falling out of certification and no longer being permitted for use in offshore lifting operations. During periodic inspections, attention is given to the primary and secondary structure, lifting eyes and lifting assemblies, markings, corrosion, and the prevention of dropped objects. This ensures safe use and helps prevent delays in offshore operations.
Control Union carries out these inspections on site, both planned and ad hoc. If required, inspections can even be performed on the same day.
Inspections in accordance with international standards
Control Union inspects offshore containers in accordance with internationally recognised standards and guidelines, including IMO MSC/Circ. 860, EN 12079, EN-ISO 10855, DNV-ST-E271, and DNV-ST-E273. Both structural integrity and lifting provisions are assessed for suitability for offshore use.
Where required, additional operator-, client-, or site-specific requirements are included in the inspection scope. Minor maintenance work can be carried out immediately to keep containers safe and operational without unnecessary delay.
Keep offshore operations safe, efficient, and compliant
Multi-disciplinary inspectors reduce mobilisations
By combining multiple inspection disciplines in a single deployment, we reduce mobilisations, shorten lead times, and keep the impact on operations to a minimum.
Non-destructive testing without paint removal
Eddy Current Testing makes it possible to inspect welds on lifting eyes without removing the paint coating. This prevents unnecessary repair work and ensures containers are available for use again more quickly.
Fast availability when it matters
Control Union carries out inspections at locations throughout the Netherlands and internationally. When a container needs to be inspected at short notice, we provide fast inspection, reporting, and release so it can be deployed without unnecessary delay.
Maintenance advice for a longer service life
Based on inspection results, Control Union advises on maintenance, repair, and preservation of offshore containers. This helps containers remain safe, certified, and operational for longer.
Known containers, efficient inspections
Thanks to years of experience with offshore containers, Control Union often already has access to relevant inspection history and technical documentation. This prevents unnecessary administrative delays and supports the efficient execution of inspections.
The proof to your promise
Safety and legislative compliance
Independent offshore container inspections help safeguard safety and demonstrate whether containers meet the applicable requirements before they are deployed offshore.
-
Control Union operates independently of maintenance and repair providers, delivering objective inspection results without conflicts of interest.
-
Offshore tank containers are subject to periodic inspections under IMDG, ADR, and RID regulations, including checks of all pressure-retaining components, lifting frames, and lifting equipment. Through a single digital portal, offshore container managers have access to certificates, inspection reports, inspection history, and the certification status of their containers and tank containers.
